When buying a new bar stool for your home or work place you need to make sure the height of the stool is appropriate for your counter worktop. Bar stools are available in several different fixed heights or will be gas lift adjustable. Your regular kitchen worktop will usually measure approximately 900mm from the floor whilst bar countertops will usually measure around 1050mm.
You will want to make sure you have enough leg room to move your legs comfortably underneath the counter but not too much so that you feel like you are sitting too low to the counter. Ideally for leg spacing, allow for 225-300mm between the top of the stool seat and the bottom of your counter worktop or bar surface to ensure adequate room for leg comfort.
With simple measurement before you purchase you can determine the correct bar stool height for your counter and avoid any dissapointment with your purchase. Determining the correct bar stool height is simply based on your counter or worktop height.
Additional measurements to consider when choosing a bar stool are the spaces between each stool, for positioning your stools, you will need to have about 650-750mm measured from the center of one stool to the center of the stool next to it. This will allow for optimal space for working, eating, drinking and socialising.
